Day 27 – Accessories

Much to my mother’s despair, I love black clothes 😍

They’re striking, cool, timeless and if monochrome was good enough for Coco Chanel, it’s good enough for me!

But what do you buy for the ‘I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker colour‘ girl in your life for Christmas?

Well, I’ve done the hard work for you πŸ™Œ

Here are the coolest black accessories I found on Etsy:

These gold dipped earrings

This leather necklace

This unusual ring

This cool-girl necklace

These minimalist earrings

This edgy bangle

This cute little cloud ring

This modern wood necklace

This delicate hexagon bracelet

This geometric ring

This wooden necklace

These tiny round stud earrings

It’s been a busy week… 4 exams and 3 tutor meetings later, it’s finally the end of the semester!

Day 21 – Christmas Jumpers! πŸŽ…

Foodie week is over and I’ve fallen headfirst into the festive spirit!

Let’s discuss Christmas jumpers. Everyone has one, everyone loves them and whether you wear them ironically or just because they are unbelievably cute, chances are they’ll get you in the holiday spirit πŸŽ„πŸŽ…β›„

Unfortunately for us all, the internet has waged war on this most clichΓ© of Christmas traditions and festive jumpers are no longer the cheesy, Mark-Darcy-from-Bridget-Jones extravaganza they once were…

So here’s a list of 11 jumpers that got too cool for Christmas… I’m looking at you, Pinterest πŸ˜‰

P.s. They’re all on my list, Santa πŸŽ…

Day 13 – Body Beautiful

Body shaming, Photoshop, unrealistic beauty ideals… They’ll affect us all in some way in our lifetime, it’s the way advertising and celeb culture works.

It’s not all doom and gloom though, because every now and then someone calls it out so we can all feel good again πŸ™Œ

We all remember Lorde posting un-photoshopped pics of herself in concert on Twitter, Emma Watson being so done with the system she actually used the F word twice *gasp*, and Jennifer Lawrence asking the real questions: “what are you going to do? Be hungry every single day to make other people happy?”

But even better than that is the solid, unstoppable, inspirational spokesperson on the matter: Iskra Lawrence.

She’s a homegrown English model from Worcester and she made headlines this week when she undressed on a New York train to condemn body shaming (watch the video here).

So here are the main reasons to keep an eye on Iskra:

  1. She created RunwayRiot
  2. She calls the “plus size model” label out for what it is… “What upsets me is the fact that if you’ve catagorised me, you’ve categorised all women my size and above in the real world. The term has a really negative connotation thanks to the fashion industry, and that’s why we don’t use labels on Runway Riot.” (16 is actually average size in the UK)
  3. She is an ambassador for the National Eating Disorders Association and she supports and teaches within the Body Project.
  4. She starred in the All Woman Project and absolutely killed it 😍
  5. She is relatable. She once said “I was done with editing myself, my body and my opinions,” and frankly I’m glad because unedited Iskra is just perfect.
  6. She uses social media in the best way possible. Follow her Instagram here

    Day 8 – Winter Hair

Yep, it’s official, winter has hit the UK in full, grizzly force. Storm Angus last night has left us all windswept, puddly, frosty toed… As a collective we haven’t seen sunlight in 24 hours, we’ve spent the weekend in front of the fire at the pub and we’re digging out our bobble hats.

In short, it’s COLD and it’s already taking its toll… Especially on our hair.
To make you feel snuggly again, I’ve found you enough hat hairstyles for the next week and a half! Enjoy:

    1. Classic, easy, messy braids. You’ll be ready and out of the door in 2 mins, plus this is totally weatherproof.

    2. Copy Rihanna, the queen of hats, and scoop your hair to one side.

    3. Try a messy side ponytail Γ  la Bey. Perfect hat πŸ™Œ

    4. The neater version of the side ponytail which can also be snazzed up by tying the top section into a knot like this:

    Gorgeous.

    5. Cute little front plaits or one big, majestic front plait as below:

    6. The messy fishtail. As always, a fishtail looks more romantic when it’s a little rough around the edges.

    7. The cool-girl curly fringe 😍

    8. A messy low bun – switch out the cap for a warm beanie.

    9. Minimal braid with cute flyaway strands so no one will notice if it’s been windy πŸ˜‰

    10. A side plait that frames your face as well? Yes pls.

    11. And if it all goes wrong just do a Rihanna and leave nothing but a few curls out!

    Have a perfect week πŸ˜‡
